A coordination meeting for the commemoration of the Supreme Leader’s visit to Kurdistan was held with the participation of provincial university presidents. During this session, the primary themes of the event were established, and decisions were reached regarding the implementation process, the organization of specialized panels, and the invitation of the academic community.
University of Kurdistan to Host the Anniversary Ceremony of the Martyr Leader’s Visit to the Province
The commemoration ceremony for the historic visit of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the Martyr Leader of the Revolution, to Kurdistan Province will be held on Sunday, May 17, at the University of Kurdistan.
According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the coordination meeting for the commemoration of the Supreme Leader’s visit to Kurdistan was held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, with the attendance of provincial university presidents in the central administration's conference hall.
Dr. Adel Sio-seh-marde, President of the University of Kurdistan, stated during the meeting: "On the occasion of the anniversary of the Martyr Leader’s visit to Kurdistan, a ceremony will be held with the participation of universities from across the province." He added: "The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, at the Molavi Auditorium of the University of Kurdistan, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM." Sio-seh-marde concluded by emphasizing the necessity of organizing a magnificent ceremony and invited the academic community, administrative departments, and Basij members to participate consciously and enthusiastically in honoring this significant event.
Hojatoleslam Abedin Rostami, Representative of the Supreme Leader in Kurdistan, announced the commencement of commemorative programs for the anniversary of the Leader’s visit starting May 12. He stated: "These programs will continue for one week throughout the province, and all provincial sectors are preparing for this important occasion." Highlighting the organization of scientific panels focused on the achievements of the visit, he added: "The special ceremony on May 17 at the University of Kurdistan will focus on tangible outcomes such as the strengthening of soft security, cultural advancement, the consolidation of unity between Shia and Sunni (specifically the Shafi'i school), as well as infrastructure development."
Hojatoleslam Rostami continued: "Throughout this week, diverse programs will be held in cities and villages, with May 17 specifically dedicated to academic units and their programs at the University of Kurdistan." He further stressed the essential presence of officials, professors, and security forces, noting: "This event is provincial in scope, and collective participation is of high importance for its grand execution." He also emphasized the need for media coverage, inviting the IRIB and provincial news agencies to serve as the voice of Kurdistan in this significant cultural endeavor. In the concluding part of the session, attendees presented their suggestions for the optimal organization of the ceremony.
